What is Threat in WoW Classic?
Threat (also known as aggro) is a hidden value that determines which player or pet a mob will attack. Every action you take in combat - dealing damage, healing, using abilities - generates threat. The player with the highest threat on a mob's threat table becomes the target of that mob's attacks.
Understanding threat is crucial for successful raiding. Tanks need to generate enough threat to hold aggro, while DPS players must manage their threat to avoid pulling mobs away from the tank. Different stances and abilities have threat modifiers that affect how much threat is generated.
- • Defensive Stance (Warriors): +130% threat
- • Bear Form (Druids): +130% threat
- • Righteous Fury (Paladins): +90% threat
- • Healing: 50% of healing done as threat
- • Feint (Rogues): Reduces threat by 240
- • Fade (Priests): Reduces threat by 405
- • Invisibility (Mages): Drops all threat
- • Feign Death (Hunters): Drops all threat
